Writing Music

Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite pieces of writing music.

Circles – Ludovico Einaudi ft. Greta Svabo Bech

Unlike most of the writing music I listen to, this one has lyrics, which are as haunting as they are distracting.

I know this is going to sound melodramatic to some, but this song resonates with me because of how I often feel on the bad days with hypothyroidism. It’s a pretty common condition, and even some who have it might roll their eyes while reading this, thinking, “Oh, for pity’s sake, it’s not that bad!”

There are, indeed, times when it’s “not that bad.”

But if your hypothyroidism isn’t getting adequate treatment – even though your
TSH test is “normal,” so your doctor doesn’t want to make any changes to your dosage – you know what I mean when I say that some days are rough.

The thyroid affects every system in the body – some more immediately or more noticeably than others. It’s pervasive and it will kick your butt if you try to just “shake it off and ignore it,” but to many people out there who don’t have it, it’s just a made-up illness for people who just don’t want to work or who don’t really want to lose weight.

That one really makes me twitch a little. <deep breaths, slowly un-gritting teeth>

Those of us who have hypothyroidism aren’t defined by it, but we do still need to know about the challenges it presents – so we can meet them.

We’re not less-than, we’re not lazy, and we’re not alone.

Anyway, give the song a listen. I loved it from the first time I heard it, and it’s still one of my favorites.

I hope you enjoy it. 🙂
